One year later after I shot the same rally in Calgary City Hall, I returned. So did many of the same players, Sons of Odin, Street Church, Raging Grannies, Antifa. Those opposing Street Church and Sons of Odin, the "counter protesters" came in greater numbers this time, with more signs, a stronger voice and First Nations along with them. The result was a more powerful voice against those who oppose diversity.
“I love the people I photograph. I mean, they’re my friends. I've never met most of them or I don’t know them at all, yet through my images I live with them.” – Bruce Gilden
On June 3rd a group called WCAI rallied at city hall under the banner of a protest against the current Trudea government but several signs indicated it was a protest against muslims and entrance by refugees. The rally was met with a strong opposition from pro refugee groups (the protesters). Shot with a Fujifilm X-T2 and a Fujifilm 23mm f2 lens (35mm equivalent).
